I was among some very smart and accomplished professionals today. Their 2 cents on the kind of people that should be hired might sound a little counterintuitive, but what works is a solution, right?

I have observed a certain stereotype in the kind of people that are sought after in the corporate world today, at least the slice of the corporate world that I have come in contact with. Corporate culture is abuzz with fast paced, multitasking, we wanted it yesterday, aggression is cool, no room for error vibes.

However, many successful leaders that I've spoken to swear by seemingly uncool traits which rarely find their way into job descriptions or hiring requirements - that a person be kind to everyone around, be a little less judgemental, be patient & calm, communicate well (nothing to do with command over a language), and be unafraid to fail. Because failure is inevitable. Especially in environments which would like to foster innovation. One could even say failure is the price of innovation. To have fun failing, because when done right, you're not failing, you're learning - and the more and the faster you learn, greater the chances of innovation.
